ABOUT
Kaleb Scherer was born in the small town of Grass Valley, California. Born and raised in Northern California he left the "The Golden State" at the age of 17 to attend a small college in Eastern Nebraska, Midland University, on an athletic scholarship for Shotgun Sports. It was here in Fremont, Nebraska that he would start playing guitar and writing songs. Kaleb obtained his love for music at a young age from his parents, especially his dad. Kaleb credits most of his musical influence to two eras of Country Music. Country from the early and mid-2000s with artists the likes of Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Eric Church, and Billy Currington. The other era that shaped Kaleb's unique sound is the late 2010's neo-traditional resurgence that happened while he was still in high school that consisted of artists like Jon Pardi, Cody Johnson, Tyler Childers, and Luke Combs. It was in the summer of 2020 that he first had the idea of pursuing music seriously. In November of that year, Kaleb visited Nashville for the very first time. It was here he met one of the most influential people on his journey so far, singer, songwriter, and producer Jonny Houlihan. He was given the incredible opportunity to record his first four songs with Jonny. This is where Kaleb really came into his own as an artist and developed his unique neo-traditional sound. His debut single, Rowdy in Reno, was released on March 5th, 2021. Soon after this release, Kaleb graduated from Midland and immediately moved to Nashville, Tennessee. After he made a move to Nashville he followed up his release of Rowdy in Reno with the subsequent releases of Island Dream, Remember the Songs, and Hey, Santa. He then released his debut EP on March 31st, 2023 SONGS FROM THE HEARTLAND. A collection of four songs that were all written while he still lived in Nebraska and is considered his love letter and his way of closing the chapter of pre-Nashville music. Now you can find Kaleb around the Nashville area cutting his teeth at open mics, writer's rounds, and other local spots.
